Boston, October 31, 2017 – RISI, the leading information provider for the global forest products industry, announced today that registration for the 12th Annual RISI European Conference has opened. This year’s program will take a deep dive into the global economy, trade uncertainty, and Europe’s growing markets. The Conference will take place March 5-7, 2018 in Barcelona, Spain at the Catalonia Barcelona Plaza Hotel.

Delegates can expect a two-day conference program, plus a one-day packaging seminar, featuring RISI’s team of experts and high-level industry leaders addressing key forest product market trends in Europe.

A packaging seminar on March 5 will kick off the Conference focusing on growing packaging markets, machine conversions, and containerboard and boxboard outlooks for the European region.

Day One of the main conference program will begin on March 6 and will cover CEOs, the Economy and Trade Uncertainty. The European CEO of the Year will deliver the keynote speech and then join a lively CEO Panel discussion with the heads of Europe’s top performing companies. Following a report on the Global Economy, we will hear from a trade official about what changes are in store, partially resulting from Brexit negotiations and the cancelled TTIP.

Delegates also can potentially expect discussion of recovered paper dynamics and the effects China’s new policy may have on the packaging market.

Day Two on March 7 will feature a theme of Sustainability, Food Safety and the Future. It will lead off with an expert view on sustainability within the industry, followed by a panel of cross-industry experts discussing safety and quality of food products. Further presentations will give us insights into where we are headed in logistics, industry investment, and technology. Speakers will also weigh in on e-commerce and the “Amazon effect”. RISI experts will also provide key market outlooks including pulp, containerboard, and specialty papers.

The 2017 Conference attracted more than 200 delegates from over 130 companies, traveling from 26 countries. A strong turnout is anticipated in Barcelona in 2018. Delegates will have multiple opportunities to network during lunches, breaks, and an exclusive cocktail hour.
