Cape Town, November 18, 2013 –DHL Express, the world leader in international express delivery, recently walked away with top honours at the Africa Movers and Makers Awards, scooping the ‘Africa’s Top NewsMaker – Company’ award.

The award, backed by the Supply Chain Council and presented at the Africa Movers and Makers Summit at the Mount Nelson Hotel, Cape Town, was given to the logistics operator for the quantity and quality of published news, vocal customer opinion and positive industry reviews shown in the past two years. Key considerations were the progress of news; focus on specific business topics; and novelty and creativity when delivering company announcements.

“DHL has been in Africa for over 30 years, and we have an unparalleled network and infrastructure,” comments Sumesh Rahavendra, Head of Marketing for DHL Express Sub-Saharan Africa. “However, in the last two years, we’ve really focused on telling the amazing success story of our business in Africa, and sharing our experiences of doing business on the continent. This has resulted in great coverage in the media, and fantastic reviews from our customers, who see us actively promoting business in Africa.”

The award follows numerous other accolades for the express company across Africa, as it currently holds 19 external awards for excellence in 2013, across a range of functions including customer service, operations, corporate social responsibility and marketing.
