FreightScan To Debut New FS100P Automated Dimensioning System at Air Cargo Americas 2009 Show

Carlsbad, California, October 20, 2009 – FreightScan, LLC, a leader in the development and deployment of innovative technology solutions for the freight and logistics industry, will debut its newly developed FS100P automated dimensioning system for cargo scanning at the Air Cargo Americas 2009 show to be held November 4-6 at the Doubletree Miami Mart Hotel & Convention Center in Miami, Florida.

The FS100P, a part of the FS100 family of cargo scanning products, is intended for use by small cargo and package operations that need to capture dimensions and images of cargo in a smaller scan area in one second’s time. FreightScan will be providing live product demonstrations of the latest member of the FS100 family of dimensioning products in Booth #728.

We are very pleased to debut our latest scanning product at the Air Cargo Americas Show, said André Johnson, CEO of FreightScan. In speaking with customers around the globe, we have found an increasing need for this specific kind of small cargo dimensioning product. The original idea for the FS100P was conceived during time we spent in Latin America working with cargo hubs that specialize in flower boxes. This industry segment accepts thousands of boxes a day during peak shipping seasons, often within very tight processing areas. This unique market, as well as others, requires a viable dimensioning system mounted over a narrow roller conveyor that is capable of scanning cargo in one second in order to avoid interfering with the demanding workflow process.

As a result of its findings, FreightScan committed to developing a solution for cargo facilities that require a shorter scan time to dimension cargo due to heavy volume, or have a limited scan area size. In either case, the FS100P provides a solution that complements the FS100. Now cargo companies can mix and match the hardware based on the needs of each individual facility, thereby ensuring a standardized method for automating the collection of accurate dimensions.

The FS100P provides the same basic functionality as the original FS100 dimensioning system, but with a more targeted market in mind. The FS100 currently dimensions cargo in a scan area up to 10 feet by 10 feet, to serve the freighter, carrier and oversized cargo markets. The FS100P is designed to dimension cargo in a scan area of up to four feet by four feet with smaller cargo units, including skids, individual pieces, parcels, and conveyable freight. Like the FS100, the FS100P is driven by DimPro 2.0, FreightScan’s proprietary software that enables customers to capture, record, display and transfer dimensions and images associated with shipment waybills.
