São Paulo, Brazil, 11 June 2010 - CEVA Logistics, one of the world’s leading supply chain companies, announced its top five suppliers of 2009 yesterday at CEVA’s seventh annual Transportation Convention. The winners are TNT Mercúrio, PBEX Transportes e Logística, Transpérola Transporte Rodoviário, Estado de Minas e Transportes GESean.

More than 130 suppliers competed for the awards, which were divided into five categories based on company size. The suppliers were evaluated on their ability to respond to the challenges of CEVA’s logistics operations, the degree of fulfillment of SLAs (Service Level Agreement) and best practice in marketing and competitiveness.

The Amaral Engineer Productivity Award was presented to Galaxy Express in recognition of their work and productivity in the FTL (Full Truck Load) operations group of CEVA Ground. This award was created in 2007 in honor of João Luiz do Amaral, a former logistics advisor of the National Association of Logistics and Load Transportation (NTC & Logística) who passed away in December 2006. Amaral championed integration between logistics operators and transportation companies to promote best practices in logistics.

CEVA’s ongoing commitment to sustainability is exemplified through the Sustainability award, which this year was given to 12 partners, who received medals for participating in the social program “In the Right Hands,” a project conceived by the NGO Childhood Brazil that focuses on fighting the sexual exploitation of children and teenagers in Brazil.

“Of all the merit-based programs for partners of CEVA Ground, what brings me the most satisfaction about our joint work is the LEAN program, which includes the Productivity and Sustainability awards, said Ricardo Melchiori, Director of Operations for CEVA Ground in South America. “Our biggest challenge in coming years will be to better embed these areas into our business. Efficiency is all about doing more with less and by focusing on continuous improvement in all of our operations in South America, we can make CEVA’s managed operations into models of excellence in social and environmental responsibility.
