APM Terminals Rotterdam Welcomes UASC as a new Customer

Rotterdam, The Netherlands – APM Terminals Rotterdam welcomed the first call of the United Arab Shipping Company’s vessel to the facility when the 6800 TEU Mayssan called on her voyage of the weekly AEC2 Asia Europe Container Service. United Arab Shipping Company, the 20th largest container shipping company, is projected to move over 100,000 TEUs through the terminal yearly.

“We are very proud that UASC has chosen APM Terminals Rotterdam to serve their customers in these tough economic times” stated Managing Director of APM Terminals Rotterdam, Hans van Kerkhof, who presented the Captain with a plaque commemorating the event. “We look forward to delivering operational excellence to UASC and help them grow their business”.

UASC (United Arab Shipping Company) was established in July 1976; jointly by the six shareholding states from the Arabian Gulf (Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and U.A.E). The head office is located in the State of Kuwait with a corporate office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. UASC has a fleet of 40 vessels and has over 192,000 containers in service.

With an annual throughout of 2.6 million TEUs, APM Terminals Rotterdam is one of the largest container terminals in Europe and in the APM Terminals Global Terminal Network. APM Terminals Rotterdam recently went “green” with electricity for gantry crane and other operations now generated by clean-energy wind power.
