APM Terminals Earns Top Safety Honors
Los Angeles, California and Elizabeth, New Jersey – APM Terminals Americas recently earned several awards for its achievements in workplace safety at its East and West Coast facilities.
Pier 400 (Los Angeles), APM Terminals Oakland and APM Terminals Tacoma were honored by the Pacific Maritime Association, and APM Terminals Port Elizabeth was recognized by the New York Shipping Association.
For the third year in a row, Pier 400-Los Angeles won First Place Safety Award in the Class A Container Group for the Los Angeles/Long Beach areas, as well as First Place Group A Container Companies Coast Award from the Pacific Maritime Association. Also for the third consecutive year, APM Terminals Oakland took top honors in its region with First Place in the Class C Container Group category for Northern California.* In addition, APM Terminals Tacoma was recognized with a Second Place Washington Area and Coast-Level awards for Category C Operators. Because Pier 400 and APM Terminals Oakland each won for three years running, their categories’ trophies will be retired and APM Terminals will keep the awards. The PMA will produce new trophies for next year’s recipients.
On the East Coast, APM Terminals Port Elizabeth was honored by the New York Shipping Association with an award for Lowest Lost Time Accidents Frequency in the Port of New York and New Jersey. This is third year in a row that the Port Elizabeth facility has earned this distinction.
“Safety is at the core of everything we do and we are very proud of these awards,” said Eric Sisco, President of APM Terminals Americas. “Our team has worked hard to create an industry-leading culture of safety at all of our facilities, but our motivation really lies in the commitment we have made to ensure that every colleague, and every person who works on or visits our facilities returns home safely to their family and friends at the end of each day. We will maintain the high standards we have set and continually look for ways to improve.”
