Alexandria, VA – November 13, 2011 - The Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) is pleased to announce that the Allen Lund Company is the recipient of the 2011 TIA 3PL Samaritan Award.

Following are just a few examples of the Lund Company’s charitable outreach which includes The Children’s Medical Network Hospitals which treats children, regardless of their parents’ ability to pay, Navidad en el Barrio that distributes Christmas food baskets to over 20,000 families at or below the poverty level throughout Southern California and, providing transportation to Wreaths Across America, an organization that honors our veterans by raising money to place wreaths at the graves of service members. Lund supports Catholic Education Foundation which provides tuition assistance to the most financially deserving students and participates in the Relay for Life events hosted by the American Cancer Society

The Lund Company was quick to respond to the tornado caused destruction in Joplin, MO., and when the devastating earthquake hit Haiti, the company has repeatedly donated transportation services to Mission Haiti, an outreach program at Holy Family Church in South Pasadena, CA.

“We have been blessed to be a part of this great industry for 35 years, and for all the benefits we have received here at the Allen Lund Company, it is only right that we return a portion of our profit to those that are less fortunate,” said Allen Lund, President and CEO.

“The TIA Foundation Board was overwhelmed by generosity and commitment of TIA members,” said Tom Fiorini, CTB, Chairman of the TIA Foundation.

“The TIA Foundation Board received two dozen nominations for the 2011 award. The task of selecting a single recipient was very difficult. The generous and giving spirit of the third party logistics industry in general and, TIA members in particular, is amazing,” Voltmann added.

The TIA 3PL Samaritan Award will be presented at 2011 TIA Fall Meeting held in conjunction with TransComp/Intermodal in Atlanta, GA. Lund will be able to designate a charity to be the recipient of funds raised by the TIA Foundation Charity Fun Run at the 2012 TIA Convention to be held in San Antonio, Texas March 21-24.

The recognized service or assistance can take any form from volunteering logistical support to providing manpower, resources, or financial support to others in need, sponsoring sporting events, providing scholarships, hiring disabled people or other types of community service. The purpose of the award is to recognize the good works in which the 3PL industry is engaged by highlighting a specific 3PL Samaritan effort each year.
