Miami-Dade County, FL – Spanish carrier Air Europa has announced it will begin non-stop service from Madrid to Miami International Airport on March 19, 2010, and will also renew non-stop service to Tenerife, Canary Islands on June 19, 2010.
Air Europa will operate four weekly flights to Madrid and one weekly flight to Tenerife using Airbus A330-200 aircraft. The airline first began operating at MIA on June 20, 2009, with seasonal service to Tenerife that concluded on January 9.
A recent economic impact study shows that Air Europa’s service from Madrid and Tenerife will directly and indirectly contribute 1,354 jobs and more than $116 million in business revenue to the Miami-Dade County economy.
“Air Europa’s international route structure will have a major impact in Miami-Dade County’s economy and will expand trade, business and leisure travel opportunities in South Florida,” said Miami-Dade County Commissioner Rebeca Sosa, who was instrumental in bringing Air Europa to MIA.
