Agility World Cup Fundraiser Brings Hope to Children with Cancer

Beirut, Lebanon, 14 July 2010 - As World Cup 2010 fever gripped audiences around the world, Agility, a leading global logistics provider, organized a successful fundraising event in Lebanon. The company raised over $13,500 for the Children’s Cancer Centre Lebanon (CCCL) by holding an outdoor screening of the final match at the Sin el Fil Stadium in Beirut.

The event was attended by over 300 people. Fundraising initiatives also extended to local and international companies, as well as vendors, who were encouraged to donate proceeds to the CCCL.

Nassib Nasr, international outreach director of the CCCL said, “Agility shares a long standing relationship with the CCCL that has kept growing over the years. We are especially grateful to Tarek Sultan, chairman and managing director, for his endless support to our cause. We look forward to their continued cooperation in the future as well.”

Agility has been supporting CCCL with donations and sponsorship for the last six years as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program that focuses on humanitarian relief, community volunteerism and the environment. Through, this community volunteer program, Agility employees around the world have participated in over 300 community projects in 52 countries in the last three years. Over 500,000 people in need have been reached through some type of service activity.

The Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon (CCCL), established in Beirut, Lebanon, is a unique regional center for the comprehensive treatment of pediatric cancer. An affiliate of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, USA, the center works in close association with the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC). The CCCL depends on donations, and its ability to fulfill its mission is constrained by the availability of funds at its disposal.
