Tyonek Services Leases Huntsville International Airport’s New Air Cargo Facility

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Huntsville International Airport recently announced its new air cargo facility has been leased to Tyonek Services – a subsidiary of Tyonek Native Corporation of Anchorage, Alaska – and a premiere provider of aviation, technology and security services. Using the 92,493-square-foot, $8 million facility, Tyonek will support testing, maintenance, repair and overhaul for Army Rotary and fixed wing aircraft.

According to Rick Tucker, Executive Director, Huntsville International Airport, “Tyonek’s work utilizing our new air cargo facility is tied to the Base Realignment and Closure initiative that combined the Army's Aviation Technical Test Center based at Fort Rucker with the Redstone Technical Test Center to create the Redstone Test Center. While the Army is building a hangar and headquarters on Redstone Arsenal for the newly created test center, which will employ about 400 people, our air cargo facility will serve as an interim location for the work, which was awarded by contract to Tyonek.”

“The facility’s overall design was a key selling point for our organization, featuring the 20-foot by 70-foot double bay doors that can accommodate nearly all Army aircraft in existence today,” said Scott Pfeifer, President, Tyonek Services Group, Inc. “We are very excited to move into this state-of-the-art facility, and we look forward to establishing a long-lasting relationship with the Huntsville-Madison County Airport Authority. Huntsville and the entire Tennessee Valley community continue to grow and prosper, and we are pleased to be a part of that growth and to provide a service that helps our military forces better prepare for the duties that lie ahead.”
