An employee-based trucking model backed by venture capital that was announced Monday in Los Angeles-Long Beach is expected to gain traction in harbor drayage, but it won’t dominate the industry any time soon.

Canadian trucking operator Manitoulin Group acquired Ridsdale Transport, a less-than-truckload carrier based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The acquisition makes Manitoulin the province’s largest transportation provider, the company said.
