U.S. diesel prices fell for the sixth week straight in the week ending Jan. 7, slipping seven-tenths of a cent.
The average cost per gallon, $3.911, is up 8.3 cents from the same period a year ago, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. The average U.S. diesel prices have been below the $4 per gallon mark for the last five weeks.
Prices fell across the country, except in the Central Atlantic region, the Gulf Coast and California. The Gulf Coast region saw the sharpest rise in prices, with the average price of a gallon of diesel inching up seven-tenths of a cent to $3.837.
The biggest decline in prices was in the Rocky Mountain region, where the average price dropped 5.8 cents to $3.688 per gallon.
