FTR Associates' Trucking Conditions Index for November, published in its January 2013 Trucking Update, rose almost two full points to a favorable reading of 9.7.
The gain, primarily driven by increased utilization, was expected, as conditions affecting trucking will continue to improve in anticipation of a tightened market in 2013, the Nashville, Ind.-based company said.
FTR was predicting an improved environment for trucking even before the political agreement to avoid the “fiscal cliff” was reached, Jonathan Starks, FTR’s director of transportation analysis, said in a written statement.
“There are still political hurdles to navigate in early 2013, but the agreement takes some of the uncertainty out of business plans,” he said.
