Northeast regional trucking company New England Motor Freight is extending its reach across the continent under a partnership with Pacific Alaska Freightways.
The agreement will help NEMF speed less-than-truckload freight from the Northeast and Midwestern U.S. to Alaska in eight to 12 business days, the companies said.
Shipments from Elizabeth, N.J.-based NEMF bound for Alaska will be picked up in Chicago by Pacific Alaska Freightways, which has headquarters in Fife, Wash.
NEMF, the 19th largest U.S. LTL carrier, increased revenue almost 2 percent to about $317 million in 2010, according to data from SJ Consulting Group.
In recent years, NEMF has expanded westward from its Northeastern base into the Mid-Atlantic and Midwestern states, building a 40-terminal network.
NEMF partners with AAA Cooper Transportation, Midwest Motor Express and Oak Harbor Freight Lines in the U.S. and, in Canada, Manitoulin Transport.
Pacific Alaska Freightways moves freight to Alaska via the Port of Tacoma. The carrier has terminals in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Soldotna and Kodiak, Alaska.
