Daimler Trucks North America and the United Auto Workers reached agreement on contracts covering employees at three U.S. plants.
The three-year contracts include baseline production commitments and provide scheduling flexibility and will improve efficiency and reduce operating costs at the plants, DTNA said Monday. The contracts were ratified by UAW members over the weekend.
The contracts cover UAW members at factories in Mt. Holly, Cleveland and Gastonia, all in North Carolina, which produce medium- and heavy-duty Freightliner trucks as well as components.
Employment will increase significantly at the Mt. Holly and Cleveland plants, DTNA said, although ramp-up plans are still being developed. The company said it has 140 employees in Mt. Holly, 830 in Cleveland and 670 in Gastonia.
