Less-than-truckload carrier A. Duie Pyle made the tasks of planning, routing and dispatch easier and more efficient with the recent integration of Descartes’ Area Planner and Route Planner, both part of Descartes’ Mobile Resource Management set.
Pyle provides a broad range of transportation services including LTL, truckload transportation, contract and public warehousing, and third-party logistics services. It is No. 24 on the JOC list of Top 50 North America's LTL Carriers.
Experts from Descartes spent six months working closely with Pyle staff to integrate and test the new software at one of Pyle’s terminals.
Descartes Area Planner uses simulation, design, and modeling exercises to help improve pick-up and delivery operations. Descartes Route Planner uses the model from Area Planner for daily routing, dispatching, and plan-versus-actual tracking of pick-up and delivery operations.
“This is a milestone project and a significant development in our continuous efforts of improving our operations and customer service,” said Steve O’Kane, president of A. Duie Pyle.
