Choptank Transport, an asset-based third-party logistics company in Preston, Md., opened a regional office in Atlanta, expanding its footprint in the Southeast.
"With (Atlanta's) central location, there is just an enormous amount of freight that moves to, from, and through this city," said James Lee, vice president of brokerage services.
The 3PL hired Lee earlier this month to run the Atlanta operation. He previously worked for Cargo-Master, now Greatwide Freight Brokerage, as vice president of legal affairs.
Choptank has about 10,000 truckload carriers under contract and offers refrigerated, truckload, frozen shipping and flatbed trucking services, as well as warehousing.
