Obama Signs Coast Guard Bill Into Law

President Obama on Dec. 20 signed into law H.R. 2838, the Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Act of 2012.

The Act authorizes $8.6 billion in fiscal year 2013 and $8.7 billion in the following fiscal year for the Coast Guard’s activities. Among other provisions, Section 709 eliminates the Transportation Security Administration requirement for maritime workers to make multiple trips to a Transportation Worker Identification Credential enrollment center to receive the TWIC card.
