Ray LaHood, secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation since 2009, today announced that he will not serve a second term for President Obama’s Cabinet.
He said in an e-mail to DOT employees that he plans to stay on until his successor is confirmed.
LaHood was the only Republican in the president’s first-term Cabinet. During that time, he helped promote high-speed rail and repair roads and bridges.
