Greece to Tax Tonnage of Foreign-Flag Ships

Greece will tax merchant ships managed by companies based in the country and sailing under foreign flags to raise revenue to reverse the nation’s debt crisis, according to Bloomberg.

The government aims to raise 80 million euros (about US$107 million) in 2013 and about $80 million in 2014 by taxing vessels’ tonnage.
