Manufacturers Call for Congress to Pass Miscellaneous Tariff Bill

The National Association of Manufacturers and 104 businesses and business groups today sent a letter to congressional leaders pressing them to pass the Miscellaneous Tariff Bill, a competitiveness bill that will support manufacturing jobs in the U.S.

Manufacturers use the tariff suspensions contained in the bill to obtain raw materials, proprietary inputs and other products not available domestically.

“It is 20 percent more expensive to manufacture in the United States compared to our major trading partners, and failure to pass the MTB will only add to those costs,” said Linda Dempsey, NAM vice president for international economic affairs, in a written statement.
