Hong Kong’s Centre for Food Safety has banned imports of poultry and poultry products, including eggs, from the states of Brandenburg and Berlin in Germany.
The ban follows a notification from the World Organization for Animal Health of an outbreak of low pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in the northeastern part of Germany.
The CFS has also banned imports of poultry and poultry products from Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, since Dec. 22, 2012, because of an outbreak of avian influenza H5.
