The U.S. Coast Guard will hold a public meeting in Seattle March 25 to get public comment on proposed changes in rules governing the Notice of Arrival and Departure, and Automated Identification systems.
The proposed rules, published in December, would require selected vessels to give advance notice of departure as well as arrival, and establish an electronic reporting system. In addition, the agency is expanding the use of AIS to areas outside existing vessel control areas.
The meeting in Seattle will be the Coast Guard’s second to gather comment. It will be held at the Henry M. Jackson Federal Building auditorium from 1p.m. to 3 p.m.
More details are in Monday’s Federal Register at http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/2009/E9-4356.htm.
