Burlington Northern Santa Fe named Raymond B. Greer the first president of its subsidiary BNSF Logistics, effective Feb. 15.
Greer comes to the newly created position of president after leaving Greatwide Logistics Services. He was CEO of Greatwide from 2005 until he resigned in February 2010, a year after Centerbridge Partners acquired the third-party truck brokerage and logistics firm.
BNSF Logistics is expanding. "The company has grown from a domestic transportation management company to an international third party logistics provider well positioned to capitalize on future growth and investment opportunities to serve the global supply chain," said Matt Rose, BNSF's chairman and chief executive officer. "Ray is an experienced and proven logistics leader and will be a great addition to the growing BNSF Logistics team."
Prior to his time at Greatwide, Greer was president and CEO of reverse logistics outsourcing firm Newgistics. He also previously held positions as president, chief operating officer, and chief information systems officer with Ryder Logistics and served in several leadership positions with Federal Express.
Eric Wolfe, who has served as BNSF Logistics' vice president and general manager, will report to Greer as vice president and chief operating officer.
