Kansas City Southern, operator of the smallest U.S. Class I railroad and a rail unit in Mexico about the same size, said Scott E. Arvidson left as the corporation’s executive vice president and chief information officer on Aug. 7.
He had held that post since October 2007.
Arvidson was also EVP and chief operating officer for the U.S. rail unit, Kansas City Southern Railway. The company said David R. Ebbrecht, KCSR’s former vice president of transportation, will run that unit’s operations and report to President David L. Starling.
However, that changes a plan unveiled in July, under which Ebbrecht was to become senior vice president for operations at Kansas City Southern de Mexico, closely coordinating with Arvidson at the U.S. property.
Now, said KCS Chairman and CEO Michael R. Haverty, “Ebbrecht will remain in the United States as senior vice president operations and continue to direct KCSR's rail operations.”
In addition, William H. Nolen will stay in his current job of senior vice president for operations at KCSM. He was slated in the earlier plan to move over to KCS as executive representative at the U.S. rail line.
Spokeswoman Doniele Kane would provide no additional information about Arvidson’s sudden departure, saying only that “KCS does not comment on personnel matters.”
