China and India today signed a memorandum of understanding to promote technical cooperation in the railway sector, including high-speed rail, heavy cargo and station development.
The agreement was signed by Vinay Mittal, chairman of the railway board and India’s Ministry of Railways, and Wang Zhiguo, vice minister of China’s Ministry of Railways.
Both sides agreed that future cooperation on railways will be carried out under the Infrastructure Working Group constituted under the India-China Strategic Economic Dialogue. The arrangement will remain in force for five years.
