October 2015 Dates Announced for JOC Inland Distribution Conference

JOC Staff |

NEWARK, N.J. – JOC Group Inc. today announced that its 2015 Inland Distribution Conference will take place in Memphis. The two-day event will examine forecasts and challenges of the transportation industry’s intermodal and inland distribution business. JOC Inland will be held Oct. 6-8, 2015, timed to coincide with Memphis World Trade Club’s annual Port Night cocktail and dinner reception on Oct. 8. JOC Group Inc. is now part of IHS Inc. (NYSE: IHS), a leading global source of critical information and insight.

JOC Group will partner with Memphis World Trade Club and the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce to bring the conference to “America’s Distribution Center.” Over the last three decades, Memphis has emerged as a global logistics hub, enticing shippers and logistics companies to expand, relocate or open new facilities there. With one of the world’s leading cargo airports, five Class I railroads and the fourth-largest inland port in the U.S., the city that had its trade roots in the river and was built around the railroad is fast becoming “America’s premier Aerotropolis,” the Chamber reports.

“Memphis was the logical choice when we examined the growing needs of the JOC Inland Distribution Conference,” said Peter Tirschwell, executive vice president and chief content officer, JOC Group Inc. “The city’s rich logistics and transportation history, central location and keen understanding of the importance of investing in infrastructure have attracted companies across the supply chain, and we felt that it would be a convenient and beneficial location for our attendees.”

Timed at the height of the peak shipping season for North American intermodal and trucking interests, the JOC Inland Distribution Conference will bring together international and domestic shipping executives and experts to outline the state of the market and what lies ahead. Panels, presentations, case studies and live Q&As with leaders in the industry will examine the key issues confronting the North American trucking, intermodal and industrial real estate markets.

“We are very excited about the decision to bring the JOC Inland Distribution Conference to Memphis,” said Phil Trenart, president/CEO, Greater Memphis Chamber. “This prestigious event will give us to opportunity to showcase the incredible distribution infrastructure located in our region and tell the story about how our air, rail, river and highway access are driving more and more businesses to distribute their products through Memphis.”

“The Memphis World Trade Club is very excited about the JOC’s Inland Distribution Conference coming to our beautiful city in 2015,” said the club’s president, Brian F. Cassino. “We know that JOC Group has an excellent history and reputation for top-notch conferences, which include first-class speakers and topics that are relevant to our industry and international trade. This will be an amazing three days of learning, networking and great food. Our annual New Orleans Port Night Dinner will be held at the acclaimed Peabody Hotel on the evening the JOC’s conference concludes.”

In 2014, JOC Inland Distribution Conference brought together carriers, port officials, third-party logistics providers, freight forwarders and government officials. Over two days, this group discussed the latest cost-saving strategies, analyzed best practices, and debated forecasts and trends in the intermodal and inland distribution market.

Speakers at past JOC Inland programs have included executives from Walmart, Bayer, Maersk Line, Caterpillar, Environmental Defense Fund, and YRC Worldwide.
