In the week ending Jan. 26, U.S. intermodal volume rose 1.6 percent year-over-year to 238,397 trailers and containers, according to the Association of American Railroads.
Carload volume in the fourth week ending Jan. 26 dropped 6.3 percent compared to the same week last year to 265,839 carloads. Weekly carload traffic fell 11.7 percent on eastern railroads and 2.8 percent on western railroads compared with last year.
Canadian intermodal volume increased 11.0 percent to 52,028 trailers and containers for the week, and Mexican intermodal volume declined 2.3 percent to 9,709 trailers and containers.
