Port of Seattle Earmarks $225.5 Million for 2013 Projects

The Port of Seattle Commission preliminarily approved its 2013 budget on Nov. 13, including $225.5 million for projects to create jobs, promote environmental initiatives and relieve freight congestion.

Major projects include renovation of North Satellite Terminal and escalators at Sea-Tac International Airport; dock improvements at Terminal 46 for container cargo; creation of a truck roadway from East Marginal Way to the Union Pacific Argo Yard; street vacation initiatives at terminals 5, 18 and 30; upgrades to piers 91 and 66 for cruise ships, and improvements at Shilshole Bay Marina and Fishermen’s Terminal.

The budget also includes $8.3 million for Duwamish River cleanup initiatives.

Port profit in 2013 is expected to increase 7.1 percent year-over-year to $221.7 million, and revenue is expected to increase 6.5 percent to $550.6 million.
