The Jacksonville Port Authority board of directors has approved a grant partnership with the state of Florida to allow the port to voluntarily reduce diesel emissions further at the Talleyrand and Blount Island marine terminals.
The grant, awarded by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, will pay for the port to install diesel oxidation catalysts on Jaxport cranes and equipment, reducing emissions by 10 tons per year. Installation of the catalysts will be complete by mid-2013.
