Longoria to Head Houston Port Commission

Houston Mayor Annise Parker, Port Commission Chairman Janiece Longoria and Harris County Judge Ed Emmett.

A joint session of the Harris County Commissioners Court and the Houston City Council has appointed  has appointed Janiece M. Longoria chairman of the port commission of the Port of Houston Authority.

She will also serve as the chairman of the board of pilot commissioners for Harris County Ports.

Longoria has served on the port commission on behalf of the city of Houston since 2002. She is currently a member of both the governance and procurement task forces of the commission.

She replaces James T. Edmonds, who previously announced that he would not seek reappointment. He had served as chairman since 2000.
