Houston Orders Eight More Rubber-Tire Gantries

Port of Houston Authority recently ordered eight rubber-tire gantry cranes from lifting manufacturer Konecranes, to be delivered to Barbours Cut Terminal in the fall of 2013.

The 16-wheel electric cranes have a lifting capacity of 50 tons and can stack one-over-five containers high and six-plus truck-lane wide.

It is the second Konecranes order from PHA for fuel-saving RTGs. The port already has 49 Konecranes RTGs in its nine public terminals.

The value of the order was not disclosed.
