Produce importer Sol Shipping Services has entered a five-year agreement to operate a five-acre marine terminal at Florida's Port Everglades.
Sol has operated seasonally at the port since the 1990s through another terminal, but the new agreement gives the locally headquartered company a permanent on-port leasehold.
Sol is a Pompano Beach, Fla.-based corporation that owns and operates refrigerated warehouse facilities totaling 140,000 square feet on 15 acres of land. They specialize in importing melons from Central America.
