Liebherr Container Cranes has introduced a double boom ship-to-shore crane at Grup TCB’s TCEEGE container terminal in Nemrut Bay in Aliaga, Turkey.

Until now, in order to service container vessels on both sides of the 360-meter-long (about 1,181-foot-long) jetty pier at Nemrut Bay, the use of mobile harbor cranes has been necessary, requiring continuous management of terminal tractor traffic and movement of the hatch covers on the dock.

The double boom STS container crane can operate simultaneously on both sides of the pier, handling two vessels at the same time. The pier at Nemrut Bay will be equipped with four double boom STS cranes, two of which have recently been commissioned and installed by Liebherr, allowing up to four cranes to work on the same vessel simultaneously. The cranes have a reach of about 164 feet on either side.
