The volume of containers handled by the Port of Montreal increased 3.6 percent last year to 1.36 million 20-foot equivalent units.
The port’s total tonnage of cargo handled hit a new record of 28.5 million metric tons, up 10.1 percent form 2010 and well above the record 27.9 million metric tons set in 2008, the Montreal port Authority said Thursday at its annual general meeting.
