The Retail Industry Leaders Association and National Retail Federation have urged the International Longshoremen’s Association and the United States Maritime Alliance to reach a contract agreement before the Dec. 29 deadline in order to prevent disruptions to the flow of goods at East and Gulf Coast ports.
The ongoing labor negotiations affect 14 East and Gulf Coast ports, which cover 95 percent of all containerized shipments to the Eastern seaboard, RILA said in its statement.
