Klaipeda Port and Butinges terminal in Lithuania handled 31.9 million tons of cargo in the first nine months of 2012, a 6.5 percent decrease year-over-year.
The port handled 25.9 million tons of cargo in that period, decreasing 5.5 percent or 1.5 million tons; and the terminal moved 6.0 million tons of cargo, dropping 10.6 percent or 0.7 million tons.
The port and terminal’s general cargo volume from January to September 2012 was 8,185 thousand tons, a 1.8 percent decrease compared with 2011 and 25.6 percent of the port’s overall throughput.
In the same period, 5,164 vessels called in to the port and terminal, up 34 ships year-over-year.
