Alexander Grigorashenko, general director of the Port of Illichivsk, and Mikhail Ganevitch, general director of Cargill A.T., LLC, have signed a letter of intent stating that the agricultural products company will build a grain and oilseeds storage and handling complex, with a capacity of up to 4.5 million tons per year, at the Ukrainian port.

“Signing of a Letter of Intent with Cargill A.T., LLC is a great step for the port and for the country. It is a clear and understandable message to international companies to make investments into the Ukrainian ports,” Grigorashenko said in a written statement. “This became possible due to the Law 'On Sea Ports of Ukraine' adopted by the Parliament of Ukraine. This is a real response of the global business community to reforming processes in Ukrainian maritime industry.”

Cargill was also represented by company president David MacLennan, executive vice president Emory Koenig and two board members. Igor Gorobets, first deputy director of the Department for State Policy in Maritime and River Transport, and Valery Khmelnyuk, mayor of Illichivsk, attended the talks as well.
