United Arab Shipping Co. will launch a weekly container service connecting the Indian subcontinent, the Arabian Gulf, Red Sea and Turkey, starting Nov. 1.
The service, called GEM1, will operate on a weekly basis with the following rotation: Khor Fakkan, Sohar, Sultan Qaboos, Oman; Karachi, Pakistan; Hazira and Mundra, India; Khor Fakkan; Jebel Ali, United Arab Emirates; Bahrain; Jubail, Saudi Arabia; Khor Fakkan; Jeddah and Yanbu, Saudi Arabia; Port Said, Egypt; Mersin, Istanbul and Izmir, Turkey; Port Said; Yanbu; Jeddah;and Khor Fakkan.
The GEM1 will deploy eight vessels, each with a capacity of 4,250 20-foot-equivalent units.
The service will provide connections to destinations in the eastern Mediterranean and North Africa through relay options over Port Said, and to Black Sea ports via transshipment at Istanbul, UASC said.
