MSC to Hike Rates From India to East Africa

Mediterranean Shipping will raise rates on shipments from India to ports in East Africa, as part of what it calls a new “rate restoration initiative”.

The rate restoration, to be implemented in two stages, will boost rates on the route by $200 per 20-foot container, starting Feb. 15, followed by another increase of the same amount, effective March 1.

MSC’s move follows similar increase announcements by other major carriers, including CMA CGM and Emirates Shipping Line, on the same trade lanes.
