Maersk Hikes India-Middle East-Europe Rates

Maersk Line will raise rates on westbound trade from India and the Middle East to North Europe and the Mediterranean, starting March 1.

The planned increase will be $300 per 20-foot container and $500 per 40-foot container.

“In order to continue offering our broad portfolio of services and high level of reliability, it will be necessary for us to implement a rate increase/restoration,” the Danish carrier said.

Maersk’s move follows similar GRI announcements by other major carriers, including CMA CGM, Mediterranean Shipping, Hapag-Lloyd, United Arab Shipping and Zim Integrated Shipping Services, covering same trade routes.
