Seaspan Takes Delivery of 63rd Ship

Container ship owner-charterer Seaspan took delivery of its 63rd vessel, a 4,500 twenty-foot-equivalent unit ship chartered to “K” Line.

The new ship, the Budapest Bridge, was built by Samsung Heavy Industries. It was Seaspan's eighth delivery in 2011 and expands the company's operating fleet to 63 vessels. Seaspan has six additional ships on order.

“K” Line has chartered the ship for 12 years with options to extend the charter term for up to six additional years. The new ship is the last of five 4,500-TEU sister ships and the last of a total of seven vessels to be chartered by Seaspan to “K” Line.

Seaspan’s other vessels are on long-term, fixed-rate charters to carriers including Maersk Line, China Shipping Container Lines, CSAV, COSCO, Hapag-Lloyd, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines and United Arab Shipping.
