NEW YORK — Exploring opportunities in shipping is the focus of the 19th annual Hellenic-American and Norwegian-American Chambers of Commerce conference, often called the New York Shipping Conference. Entitled “The Way Forward—Opportunities in Shipping”, the conference will present a Macro Shipping and Economic Overview, the Current State of Shipping, State of Traditional Ship Finance Lending, Investing in Shipping, A Path to Successful Restructuring, and a Shipowners’ panel. The event will be held on Tuesday, February 12th at the Waldorf-Astoria starting at 0815 with conference registration and coffee.
The New York Shipping Conference is being co-chaired by Brian Devine, a Partner at Blank Rome LLP and Clay Maitland, a Managing Partner at International Registries, Inc., and Ole Chr. Schroder, General and Environmental Manager, Torm USA.

The luncheon, sponsored by the Marshall Islands Ship Registry, will feature keynote speaker Oivind Lorentzen III, President and CEO of SEACOR Holdings who will share some of his views on the current shipping industry and what he sees lying ahead.
The Conference Co-Chairmen anticipate an informative discussion of how the current market conditions are creating opportunities in shipping. “There are opportunities present in today’s difficult market environment” stated Co-Chairman Brian Devine. “It is important for industry players to source them, and develop strategies for leveraging these to their advantage. To say it is a challenge is an understatement.”
