Maersk Line will seek a general rate increase on its services from India to West Africa, starting Sept. 1.
The proposed increase on all cargo will be $200 per 20-foot container and $350 per 40-foot container.
“While we are continuously endeavoring toward serving customers to the best of our capabilities, current rates are proving to be difficult to sustain, especially in the prevailing market scenario,” Maersk India said.
The move follows a $100 per-TEU rate hike the Danish carrier imposed on India-West Africa trade as of May 15.
