The Board of the Georgia Ports Authority on Monday elected Alec L. Poitevint, II, of Bainbridge to serve as chairman.
Poitevint, the chairman and president of Southeastern Minerals and its affiliated companies headquartered in Bainbridge, will follow Stephen S. Green, who has served as GPA’s board chairman for the past three years.
Poitevint was first appointed to the board in July 2007 by Governor Sonny Perdue and previously served as vice chairman.
Other board members elected to one-year offices were James R. Lientz Jr. of Atlanta, vice chairman, and Roy H. Fickling of Macon, secretary and treasurer.
Lientz served as the state of Georgia’s chief operating officer for the last seven and a half years and will return to the private sector on June 30.
Fickling is the president of Fickling & Company, a regional real estate development, brokerage, management and consulting firm.
