OOCL named Andy Tung, its current chief operating officer, as its new chief executive, succeeding outgoing CEO Philip Chow, as of July 1.
Tung will continue to be an executive director and a member of the executive committee of Orient Overseas (International) Ltd., parent company of OOCL, and the managing director and a member of the executive committee of OOCL.
Chow, who has been with the OOIL Group for more than 36 years, will continue to work on the group’s strategic issues in his capacity as the non-executive director of OOIL.
Tung has served the group in various capacities, including as director of OOCL’s reefer trade between 1993 and 1998. He has served as COO since January 2009.
Tung holds a bachelor’s degree from Princeton and an MBA from Stanford.
