Owner-charterer Seaspan Corp. has taken delivery of the fifth in a series of container ships with capacities of 13,100 20-foot equivalent units. The Cosco Excellence has been chartered to Cosco Container Lines on a 12-year, fixed-rate charter.
The new container ship, built by Hyundai Heavy Industries, is Seaspan's first delivery in 2012 and expands the company's operating fleet to 66 vessels. The vessel is the 15th of 18 ships to be chartered by Seaspan to Cosco.
Seaspan also has ships chartered to China Shipping, CSAV, Hanjin, Hapag-Lloyd, “K” Line, Mediterranean Shipping, MOL and United Arab Shipping.
