Mediterranean Shipping Co. will impose a general rate increase on shipments from Asia to the east coast of South America, starting July 15.
The planned increase on all kinds of container equipment will be $500 per 20-foot-equivalent unit.
The Geneva-based carrier will also apply a $200 per TEU peak-season surcharge on trades from the western Mediterranean and the Adriatic to destinations in the Far East and the Middle East. The surcharge is scheduled to take effect July 1.
