Hapag-Lloyd plans to implement a peak-season surcharge and a general rate increase on Asia-Europe trade, as part of a new rate restoration program.
The peak-season surcharge, which will take effect Aug. 1 and remain in force until Sept. 30, will be $350 per 20-foot and $700 per 40-foot equivalent unit.
The general rate increase, starting Aug. 15, will be $250 per TEU and $500 per FEU.
The German ocean carrier said the increase will apply to all kinds of container equipment shipped from East Asia (excluding Japan) to destinations in North Europe.
