Hapag-Lloyd Plans New India Rate Increases

Hapag-Lloyd will impose a general rate increase on all cargo from the Indian subcontinent to Southeast and Northeast Asia.

Effective May 15, the planned increase will be $100 per 20-foot-equivalent unit.

Separately, the German container carrier said it will apply a $500 per TEU GRI on all shipments from Japan to the subcontinent, starting June 1.

The subcontinent region includes ports in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
