Hapag-Lloyd will impose a general rate increase on all cargo from the Indian subcontinent to Southeast and Northeast Asia.
Effective May 15, the planned increase will be $100 per 20-foot-equivalent unit.
Separately, the German container carrier said it will apply a $500 per TEU GRI on all shipments from Japan to the subcontinent, starting June 1.
The subcontinent region includes ports in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
